About De La Mer
De La Mer gives you vintage inspired prints of landmarks you’ll love. Designed, printed and packaged with love in Wales.
Penarth’s Victorian and Edwardian founders created a resort of great elegance and beauty, and during the Victorian era was promoted nationally as The Garden by the Sea.
It is Penarth that has given inspiration to de la Mer, initially in the form of a set of three prints of the town. These nostalgic prints take inspiration from the iconic travel posters of the first half of the 20th century. They feature Art Deco typography, bold colours and classic design, evocative of the golden age of travel and celebrate the history and charm of Penarth town.
About the Designer
Raised in a small village on the outskirts of Aberaeron, west Wales, I moved to Cardiff in 2007 to study Architectural Design at the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University. I followed this by graduating with a Master of Design in Communication from the Cardiff School of Art and Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
I established graphic design agency Candid Creative Studio in October 2011, and in 2015 launched a range of Art Deco inspired prints of Penarth landmarks under the badge De La Mer. I live in Penarth with my partner, and dog Winston, and over the past number of years have fully renovated our Penarth home from top to toe.
